Medical Aid to Myanmar

Following a request made by senior doctors in Myanmar, regular medical aid trips have been established.  The medical services in that country are run by enthusiastic and well organised clinicians, with very limited resources and funding.  Tens of thousands of dollars of equipment have been purchased and donated, and given to the local clinicians.

Successful trips have been conducted, with extensive surgical and clinical teaching, and numerous lectures.  The organisation of services have been refined and more importantly valuable networks established.  Difficult cases can now be discussed via the net.  It is anticipated that this service will be further extended over the next few years.  More challenging cases will saved up to be operated by a visiting Australian gynaecologic oncology team.
